WATERWAYS MÜHLENBACH IN EMSDETTEN (A ‘REGIONALE 2004’ PROJECT)

A continuous footpath and cycle way was created along Mühlenbach. The urban and landscape features shaped by the stream are highlighted along the way.

One example is the Max-Clemens Canal that crosses Mühlenbach. In the base of the - never completed – canal, leading from Holland to Münsterland, whitewashed tree trunks represent the former water level.

Not far from the entry into the River Ems a disused wastewater treatment plant is now a destination for outings.

Red railings mark the path displaying the morbid charm of the area. The sewage tower offers views across the landscape; pumpkins grow in a settlement basin.
